Bo Hong received his B.S. and Ph.D. degree of biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. During the year 1999 to 2000, he received research training of psychophysiology in the department of psychology, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been a lecturer in Tsinghua University since 2001. On his sabbatical leave from 2004 to 2005, he was a visiting faculty in the department of biomedical engineering and the center for neural engineering at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. Since 2005, he has been associate professor with department of Biomedical Engineering and Institute of Neural Engineering, School of Medicine, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Neural information decoding and brain computer interface are his main research interests. He is currently associate editor of IEEE Trans. Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, and reviewer of several leading journals in the field of neural engineering and biomedical engineering, including Journal of Neural Engineering, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience Letters, Neurocomputing, etc.
